LP , " It is with a sad and heavy heart that I tell you that we said our final good-byes to Tulip last Friday. Tulip had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism two years ago and then last July, she was diagnosed with kidney disease. Treating these two ailments simultaneously is tough. We could see that she was losing more and more weight over time despite our best efforts to keep weight on her. Last Thursday , we made an appointment to take her to the vet's Friday morning. She took a turn for the worse over night and we were told the kindest thing we could do at this point , was to let her go. Of course we weren't ready to do this but we knew the vet was right and made the heartbreaking and never easy decision to say our final good-byes.
Tulip was our long term foster cat who had been with us for three and half years. I'll never foget the day Tulip jumped on a cat tree and tap , tap , tapped me on the shoulder at the rescue dayroom willing me to notice her. She came to us with numerous health issues after having been found by the rescue dumped on a country road at the advanced age of ten, eleven, twelve? years of age. She had ringworm , a recurring skin infection, on and off again eye problems ; eventually she had four teeth pulled, then when her health finally appeared stable , she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and later kidney disease.
Tulip never let any of these things bother her. She never wasted a moment of her life with us. She was always purring and up for the adventure that each day brought her. She greeted me daily as soon as I entered the foster room , no matter her condition , and would hop on the table , nudge my hand and look at me as if to say, " So what's the plan today? I hope you'll be spending lots of time in my company !" She was love purrsonified my Tulip Bunny Blossom Sweet Heart.
Tulip was also a little ray of BIG sunshine in my life. She was purity , love and sweetness wrapped in a little being I will truly miss.Always and forever. I know she is shining bright somewhere else now , painfree , and making loads of new friends. Rest in peace , my sweet Tooley B. You were found all alone on a country road wounded and wandering but in the end , you were loved by many. And you were so loved by me, my pretty little girl with the pretty red dress on.
