Tulip Bunny Blossom Sweet Heart : A Little Ray of Big Sunshine , Now Gone.

LP , " It is with a sad and heavy heart that I tell you that we said our final good-byes to Tulip last Friday. Tulip had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism two years ago and then last July, she was diagnosed with kidney disease. Treating these two ailments simultaneously is tough. We could see that she was losing more and more weight over time despite our best efforts to keep weight on her. Last Thursday , we made an appointment to take her to the vet's Friday morning. She took a turn for the worse over night and we were told the kindest thing we could do at this point , was to let her go. Of course we weren't ready to do this but we knew the vet was right and made the heartbreaking and never easy decision to say our final good-byes.

Tulip was our long term foster cat who had been with us for three and half years. I'll never foget the day Tulip jumped on a cat tree and tap , tap , tapped me on the shoulder at the rescue dayroom willing me to notice her. She came to us with numerous health issues after having been found by the rescue dumped on a country road at the advanced age of ten, eleven, twelve? years of age. She had ringworm , a recurring skin infection, on and off again eye problems ; eventually she had four teeth pulled, then when her health  finally appeared stable , she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and later kidney disease.

Tulip never let any of these things bother her. She never wasted a moment of her life with us. She was always purring and up for the adventure that each day brought her. She greeted me daily as soon as I entered the foster room , no matter her condition , and would hop on the table , nudge my hand and look at me as if to say, " So what's the plan today? I hope you'll be spending lots of time in my company !" She was love purrsonified my Tulip Bunny Blossom Sweet Heart.

Tulip was also a little ray of  BIG sunshine in my life. She was purity , love and sweetness wrapped in a little being I will truly miss.Always and forever. I know she is shining bright somewhere else now , painfree , and making loads of new friends. Rest in peace , my sweet Tooley B. You were found all alone on a country road wounded and wandering but in the end , you were loved by many. And you were so loved by me, my pretty little girl with the pretty red dress on.

I found this glass tulip candle holder in a shop after we said our final good-bye last Friday. I've lit it each evening since she left us to celebrate/symbolise the joy and love she brought us.

  2. We are so sorry to hear this incredibly sad news, dear friends. Thank you for loving Tulip so much and so well. We are grateful that she found her way to you, and that she had 3 1/2 wonderful love-filled years in the Cottage. We wish with all of our hearts that we could say something to take away the sadness you are surely feeling, but we know that your sorrow is a reflection of your deep love and affection for Tulip. We also know you will all see each other again when you are reunited at the Bridge. So we offer you what we can: purrs, prayers, sympathies and as always, our love and friendship. Please know we are thinking of you all.

  3. We are so sorry that lovely Tulip had to be helped to The Bridge. You gave her the kindest gift, we know from experience what a precarious juggling act treating hyper T and kidney disease is. You gave Tulip some excellent years of love and care, she looks like she was such a sweet character too. We hope the happy memories of her stay with you forever

Love, rumbly purrs to you all

  6. We were so sad to read that sweet Tulip has gone to the Bridge. It was clear from some of your recent posts that she was failing, but none of that makes it any easier to say goodbye to such a special friend. She was of course so lucky to live her last few years in such wonderful company, surrounded by love.

    Run Free, Beautiful Tulip.

  7. We are so very sorry to hear this sad news about Tulip today and we know you will all miss her so very much. We laughed reading about how she tapped you on the shoulder so you noticed her - what a clever lady and she was obviously a good judge of character as her ploy worked! We always loved to see her and she made us smile as she was such a pretty lady and always seemed happy.
We hope you will taken comfort from the fact that you made her "golden years" very happy.
    Take care.

  8. Katie's mom here: I am so very very sorry that your precious and loved little girl had to fly away to the Bridge. I can barely see to type as it hurts my heart. All of our dear babies are precious and when one leaves us for that journey, the pain is so hard to bear for a long a time.

Rest happily Tulip of the sweet name. And we will all see one another by and by. XXXOOO

  36. Oh LP,

I send you many hugs and much love on this day to help comfort you. You and Tulip had such a wonderful relationship and it is something that can never go away or come to any kind of an end. Love is forever.

Keep lighting her candle to remind yourself that she still lives and is even more bright and beautiful than she ever could have been while here.

You gave her so much care and love and she gave you back all that she had, too. That is obvious from the lovely photos you posted of her for us to enjoy. And I did so enjoy them. Thank you. I am grateful for the time you had together.

Thank you for taking her in after her sweet request from the cat tree in the rescue dayroom. How very happy she must have been to have you bring her home with you. I am so very glad you did.

Much Love and many gentle Hugs,
    Lily, WA, USA
