The Sun Director is back .

Tulip , " Hey everyone! It's me Tulip Bunny Blossom Sweet Heart . Long time no see. I've been having a few health issues over the winter months but I am feeling better these days. Anyhoo . . .  enough about me . . . how have you been ?! "

Tulip , " Those of you who have been visiting since last Spring know that I am a Sun Director. I know. It's hard work and I am not always successful but I do try my best ."

Tulip ,  " Here I am honing my abilities. Notice the sun funnel on my back and the pillow talk sun puddle in front of me ? Nice work , right ?! "

Tulip , " I'll try to send some sun your way this weekend although I can't promise anything. The sun has a mind of its' own at times you know.  Sun can be more stubborn than a mule about where it wants to be.But it sure is healing when it follows my direction  , wouldn't you agree ?! "

Confessions of a Kittenbaby .

Malou , " Can I tell you something ? "

Malou ,  " I am now officially bigger than Esme ! She weighs four pounds and I weigh almost five pounds ! "

Malou ,  " My favourite thing to do is to follow Esme everywhere she goes. I LOVE her and ADMIRE her and want to be JUST like her. In every way possible ! Can I be frank ? She actually just barely tolerates me. And isn't afraid of hurting my feelings either ."

Malou , " Esme sure is a hard nut to crack . But I am convinced I will crack her one of these days . I have what is known as "staying power " and that's a very good power to have on my side ! "

Bandaids for Bunnies .

LP, " Some of you may remember a post I wrote about highlighting the problem we have here in Vancouver with domestic rabbits being dumped at local parks. This problem unfortunately continues to trickle out into smaller communities ouside Vancouver.

Domestic rabbits such as these rabbits , are left to fend for themselves in a world they are not "wired" or equipped to deal with."

Their fates can often be tragic and gruesome.

As is usually the case , there are never enough responsible individuals picking up the pieces of irresponsible rabbit (pet) owners .  As a result, those caring, dedicated individuals at times can't rescue some rabbits before they meet an ill fate because the problem is now so vaste. But at other times, as is the case with these two domestic rabbits who were discarded by their owners ,  they are not only saved but their physical ailments are also taken care of. A special group called Bandaids for Bunnies not only rescued them from a horrible life in the wild , but actually saved their lives.  If you look closely, the white rabbit has lost a front leg and the grey rabbit has lost an eye as a result of being dumped into the wild."

Bandaids for Bunnies runs out of Richmond, B.C. and if you live in the area please do not hesitate to offer help in any way you can.

   

We bought this rabbit plush toy which came with the book , The Veleveteen Rabbit . The profits will go to Bandaids for Bunnies to help with medical and other costs for domestic rabbits that have been let into the wild.

Leo warmed to the Velveteen Rabbit immediately.

Leo, " What did the Velveteen Rabbit say ?"

Velveteen Rabbit , " I said , REAL domestic rabbits need much more care , love, and attention than a stuffie . And they don't belong in the wild ! "

Leo , " How did he get to be so smart ? "

A Sliver of Sunshine .

Leo , " I found a sliver of sunshine . It's resting on my furs ."

Leo ,  " It's only a thin sliver but it's keeping all my bigness warm ."

Leo , " A sliver of sunshine is like a slice of pie ."

Leo , " It warms your belly then leaves you full and sleepy ."

A Mixed Bag of Cute ( Bengal Kittens).

LP, " Last weekend I was invited to help choose a bengal kitten . I waited until my friend twisted my arm a few times and then finally agreed to go with her ."

LP, " This little girl was chosen. Her name is now Abby. "

LP, " Abby showing us she knows which way is up on the litterbox ."

 

LP, " This  cute little kitten stole my heart but wasn't ready to go to her forever home yet ."

Cute Kitten , " Hmmm. I'm sure you could fit me into your pocket if you really wanted to and no one would notice . . . "

Cute Kitten , "  I know you WANT to . . .  I dare you to ! "
LP, " I know you will find a forever home quickly 'cause you are some cute! :) "

Abby , " I am getting sleepy . . . "

LP, " You will have a wonderful life , sweet Abby . With your very own sisfur !"

Getting Ready for Summer.

Levon , " We are getting ready for summer. It will be our first summer with our  family. The others aren't interested in getting ready for summer. They say it is far too early. But I am ready and so is Malou! First , you have to think about summer things."

Malou , " You have to   v-i-s-u-a-l-i-s-e   wonderful summer favourites . "

Malou , " Like butterflies and watermelons and tulips . . . oh. . . um. Actually , tulips are for Spring visualising but sunglasses and sunshine are definitely good! "

Levon , " And once you've completed all your visualising , then you land right smack in the middle of Shangri-La Summer! Sigh. We can't wait for it to get here ! "

Lewis : March 17 2007 - April 16th 2011

LP, " Today marks the first anniversary of Lewis' death. Some of you knew Lewis through this blog and were very supportive of us when he died so suddenly. Thank you for that . I wanted to share a few photos of Lewis to honour his memory but I also wanted to mention what has transpired in the year since he has left us.  The days after his sudden death brought us to our knees in grief  but there are many good things that have happened which we could never overlook . The delightful ,  magical , innocent , playful kitten babies are the most joyful and obvious of those good things but smaller yet equally wonderful things have happened too.

I started a garden in the back which is flourishing and which has also brought an abundance of new life with it . We hear birdsong now . Lovely butterflies flutter about .  Sneaky squirrels steal our bulbs and neighbourhood cats steal our catnip and we laugh . We laugh because before all of that , all there was behind our building were large bins of overflowing garbage and now there is a secret garden with blooms , blossoms , and birdsong. A small miracle.

We have had quite a few health scares with Tulip  over the past year since Lewis has left us but each time she has come back to us reminding us of the delicate balance between life and death and also reminding us to treasure all we are blessed with .

 I paint more often now and take pleasure in bringing more art into my life and into my friends' lives .

 I would like to believe Lewis , his spirit , his small yet important life , has left us with a heightened sense of thankfulness. A heightened awareness that although life takes and gives and often not proportionally, whatever it is that we love/ loved , we carry forevermore.We carry Lewis in our hearts. Forevermore.

LP , " Rest in peace Sweet Angel Boy. You are loved .You are forever in our hearts. We miss you. You will always bring a smile to our face when we say your name."
